Job Title: Director, Cell Pharmacology - Cardiovascular and Metabolism Disease Area

Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Our client, one of the world’s fastest growing pharmaceutical companies, is seeking a Director of Cell Pharmacology for their Cardiovascular and Metabolism (CVM) Disease Area. The Director will work closely with the other Department Heads for Metabolic and Cardiovascular Research and will have responsibility for one of the department’s units whose focus is Cell Pharmacology. He or she will be responsible for 34 individuals, providing direction for the group while overseeing validation of novel targets and implementation of new cell models and technologies for efficient preclinical drug discovery and development.
The Director will report to the Executive Director of CVM Discovery Research and will participate as a member of the CVM research management team.
Qualifications Include:
- PhD or PhD/MD with a minimum of five years of research and cell pharmacology experience in the Cardiovascular and Metabolism disease area is required. If an MD, training in cell pharmacology and cell biology is essential.
- General knowledge of all major aspects of the drug discovery and development processes.
- Thorough understanding of the therapeutic area mechanisms of focus, and the ability to successfully translate from in-vitro biology to animal studies to clinical/human evaluation in a timely manner.
- Strong command of academic or commercial research efforts and of scientific literature, and knowledge of key opinion leaders.
- Ability to prepare and persuasively present documentation of preclinical research results to corporate committees and outside audiences; publish results of research projects.
- Decisive and results-oriented individual who is flexible and team oriented with demonstrated success in a multi-project fast-paced environment.
