Job Title: Global Procurement Leader

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

Our client, a diversified chemical company serving the global agricultural, industrial and consumer markets, is seeking a Global Procurement Leader. Responsible for $1.9 billion in total company spend, the Global Procurement Leader will implement a state-of-the-art global procurement operation that works across business units to optimize procurement throughout the entire enterprise. The Global Leader position directly leads a strategic procurement team and has oversight responsibility for all procurement activities within the organization. This position will collaborate with tactical procurement departments within the business units to advance the company’s procurement processes so they effectively meet development and production schedules and corporate goals.

The Global Procurement Leader reports to the corporation’s Vice President of Global Services and International Development. The Global Leader manages a total team of 147 employees on a direct and indirect basis. This role will be charged with organizing the team into three major categories: (1) a global center of excellence which will maintain global procurement processes, systems and compliance; (2) a team within category management led by seven category managers who will serve as partners to the business units and; (3) a regionally aligned procurement operations group dispersed across manufacturing locations worldwide. The center of excellence and category management will report directly to the Global Procurement Leader. The procurement operations team will report directly into the procurement group and have a matrixed report into the business.

Qualifications Include:

  • Minimum of 15 years of procurement experience including five in a global leadership role within a complex, materials-based business.

  • Degree or equivalent experience in purchasing or supply chain related field is required.

  • Experience in leading edge procurement or supply chain organizations is a must. Firsthand experience in planning, organizing and leading an effective global procurement function is required.

  • Experience in leading a substantial procurement organization transformation required. Experience in a center-led model highly preferred.

  • Solid understanding of current systems and technology, SAP experience preferred.

  • Ability to think outside the box and articulate ground-breaking and innovative procurement strategies, along with the ability to influence rapid change throughout the organization and with external partners.

  • International experience is required.

  • Significant track record of savings achieved through innovative procurement programs and tactics.

  • Strong understanding of and experience in Category Management.
