Job Title: Associate Vice President, Marketing

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

Our client, a comprehensive public research university, is seeking an Associate Vice President of Marketing. The university is an institution poised at the threshold of a transformative opportunity. During the past several years, the university has enjoyed unprecedented growth in undergraduate enrollment, experienced revitalization of its campuses with the construction of three new state-of-the-art buildings and re-engaged alumni with the success of its recently completed $350 million comprehensive capital campaign. This past year the university completed an academic strategic plan which is supported by a campus development plan that outlines an additional $500 million to $1 billion investment in the main campus over the next five to ten years.

The AVP will be part of the Executive Office of the President, and will be the University's Chief Marketing Officer. The primary responsibility of this individual will be to develop and implement a comprehensive, integrated strategic marketing plan for the university. The AVP will have an opportunity to be a key player in the intentional shaping of the university’s future during this transformative period.

Qualifications Include:

  • Ten or more years of experience in creating, implementing and evaluating comprehensive strategic marketing plans. Undergraduate degree in communications, journalism or marketing required; master’s preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Successful experience working in a complex, collaborative environment. Experience in higher education highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated ability to create effective, dynamic brands, preferably in a professional service environment.

  • Strong experience with all facets of communications, social media and marketing research.

  • Proven ability to influence others and create a unified approach toward a goal.

  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams and major projects.

  • Strong balance between strategic ability and tactical excellence; can conceptualize and implement major strategic initiatives.

  • An appreciation of the university’s urban setting, diverse population and ties to the Philadelphia community.
