Chief Digital Officer

Stephen Rockwell joins Benefits Data Trust, a national non-profit that harnesses the power of data, technology and policy to provide efficient and dignified access to assistance, as Chief Digital Officer.

Most recently the Chief Ratings and Technology officer with Charity Navigator, Mr. Rockwell led the evolution of the non-profit rating system along with his talented staff on the program, ratings evolution and engineering teams. Mr. Rockwell is an experienced executive with a record of success in creating innovative, technology-driven solutions to solve pressing social and environmental issues, raising philanthropic investment to drive impact, and building cohesive and high-performing teams within organizations and across networks.

Prior to joining Charity Navigator, Mr. Rockwell served in a variety of strategic, innovation and technical leadership roles throughout the non-profit sector. He served as American Friends Service Committee’s Chief Information and Technology Officer and earlier, was Chief Technology Officer for the National Aquarium in Baltimore.

Mr. Rockwell holds an MPA from Harvard’s Kennedy School, an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management, and a BS degree in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University.
